Positive Behavior

The Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) created a behavior matrix for our students. This matrix explains respectful and exemplary behaviors expected in the classroom, at lunch and during passing periods.

Behavior Matrix

Perris staff members reward students with Panther points when they are caught in the act of a respectful or exemplary behavior. Students accumulate Panther Points and can redeem prizes or awards.

Students can redeem the following items:

Respectful *** 5 Panther Points

In Class

  • Be on time
  • Have materials
  • Put phone away
  • Follow teacher approved chromebook use
  • Pay attention
  • Complete school work
  • Be respectful to peers/staff/substitutes
  • Follow dress code
  • Use school appropriate language
  • Think before you act
  • Listen to others’ ideas
  • Use indoor voice
  • Follow the class/school rules
  • Be polite to others, use “please” and “thank you”
  • Wait for your turn to speak

At Lunch

  • Place garbage in trash can
  • Keep conversation volume respectful to classes in session
  • Keep your hands to yourself
  • Remain in designated lunch area
  • Go to class when the bell rings
  • Wait your turn politely in line
  • Follow and respond politely to the instructions from staff
  • Follow school rules
  • Follow dress code

Passing Periods

  • Be on time to class
  • Keep to the right of the walkway
  • Use the nearest staircase
  • Keep your hands to yourself
  • Follow and respond politely to the instructions from campus supervisors and adults
  • Follow dress code
  • Use restroom only if time allows
  • Say “excuse me”
  • Walk directly to your next class

In Class

  • Be in seat and ready to work at the bell
  • Go out of your way to be nice to others
  • Participate and be engaged in class
  • Be a role model and a leader for others
  • Assist peers/staff/substitutes who need help

At Lunch

  • Ask other students to join your group
  • Say something kind to someone you do not know
  • Set a positive example for others
  • Pick up others’ garbage
  • Remind others to keep campus clean

Passing Periods

  • Arrive to next class early
  • Hold the door for others
  • Greet others as you pass
  • Smile
  • Offer to help others
  • Encourage others to keep to the right of the walkway
  • Encourage others to be on time
